Northbound and Southbound Data Flows

Some of HiveMQ Edge’s protocol adapters now support southbound communication flows to enable users to configure writing MQTT message values back to OT clients. Southbound communication can be configured directly in compatible adapters via the user interface or the Edge API.

Please review our documentation to understand which of our adapters support north and southbound data flows, and how to map southbound communication for each available protocol. Please note we strongly recommend testing southbound communications against a non-production environment before deployment.

Disclaimer for each protocol that supports Southbound:

Southbound communications unlock the ability to send operationally sensitive data back to your OT clients. HiveMQ strongly recommends testing southbound communications against a non-production environment before deployment, to validate expected behaviour and outcomes.

Users should review the documentation for each protocol that has southbound capabilities, to understand correct configuration and usage of the southbound functionality.
